Domain change
The URL for this site has changed from button.tk to matthew.tk. If you previously used the old link, please remember to use the current URL.
History
I first registered a domain with the Freenom registrar over six years ago, in 2020.
In 2022, I registered the domain button.tk which would serve as the portfolio site you know today. When the registrar completely shut down operations and canceled domains around February 13-14th of 2024, each of my four domains went offline. Two days later, I was one of the few lucky enough to regain control of three domains, with staff informing me that my domains were "paid for for the next 9 years [in our system]," meaning they would expire in 2033. Soon after, approximately 99.4% of all .tk domains (over 12 Million) were abruptly canceled, most permenantly. While this site suffered spotty service for a time, it remained up.
On September 25 2026, all three of my remaining domains were abruptly canceled yet again with no warning, along with every free domain the registrar still had active. After reaching out, staff said "under the new operator, [your] domains are no longer available and therefore cannot remain active or be renewed or restored."
While the registrar was going in-and-out of service every few weeks in 2024 and early 2025, this website has maintained almost 100% uptime since 2022 - with the exception of a few hours once in a while due to spotty Nameserver support, the 2-3 day gap in 2024, 6 day gap in 2026. Moving from Replit to Github and ultimately Cloudflare in 2024 really helped.
